Capital expenditure

As well as reducing pressure on the network, Advanced Pressure Management reduces both  the magnitude and frequency of variations in pressure. This in turn reduces the magnitude and frequency of stress variations in pipework, joints and fittings. The result is reduced fatigue damage and extended asset life, thereby reducing capital maintenance expenditure.

Many water companies carry out mains replacement based on 'condition' as defined by the number of 'bursts/km.' If the number of bursts/km on a particular section can be reduced, that section may fall into a different category and remain in service for longer.
