a staggering 32 billion cubic metres of treated water is lost from urban supplies every year |
A global challenge
Waste is a long acknowledged challenge, but few countries have moved rapidly to tackle it. The World Bank estimates that every year a staggering 32 billion cubic metres of treated water is lost from global urban water supplies. In the developing world, the average loss - NRW (non revenue water) - approaches 50% of water produced. In the UK, while leakage has been reduced, it’s still an average of nearly one quarter of input to the system.
Leakage has become a key issue for governments and regulators around the world.
It requires a breakthrough solution.
